Archaeological impact assessment, geophysical survey (26R0081) and archaeological test excavation took place in advance of housing development within a rural zone immediately south of Hacketstown. The assessment identified a 19th-century agricultural landscape. The geophysical survey identified anomalies of potential archaeological value. These were investigated through archaeological test excavation in which the housing footprints were also incorporated into the test trenches. The test excavation revealed late 19th-century drainage ditches and mid-19th century plough furrows that corresponded to contemporary field boundaries, which were no longer extant. No archaeology was encountered.
