In-stream archaeological testing was carried out on previously identified archaeology and underwater cultural heritage within the Avoca River. The testing confirmed the presence of four features: two wooden wrecks, timber piles possibly associated with a 19th-century river crossing, and a series of timber revetments around a small island.
