An archaeological impact assessment including a test excavation was undertaken following the granting of planning permission to construct a new water treatment plant in a green field site approximately 1.5km northwest of Dungarvan. There are no recorded archaeological monuments within the boundary of the lands proposed for development. Ten test trenches were excavated across the area approved for development and just one feature of anthropogenic origin was exposed, interpreted as a possible modern boundary or drainage feature.
