In their consideration of the application to retain the existing dwelling which was in close proximity to a scheduled monument, wedge tomb TYR052:022, Historic Environment Division – Historic Monuments advised that the application was considered contrary to PPS6 BH1 and an alternative location for a replacement dwelling should be located that was further from the monument and not within the functional or visual setting of it.

Taking these considerations into account the client proposed to relocate the existing modular dwelling some 120m to the west, to cluster with the existing dwellings. The new location would also be removed from the dominant view from the wedge tomb chamber to the southwest.

Planning permission was granted for this revised scheme on 11 July 2024, with a series of planning conditions relating to cultural heritage. In response to these conditions a programme of archaeological monitoring of ground works was proposed, with works taking place in July and August 2025.

Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered in monitoring of all ground works associated with the relocation of the modular home. The old site of the modular home has been backfilled with the topsoil from the new site, leveled and reseeded.
