As part of seeking planning permission to renovate two existing derelict structures and carry out associated site works at Green Street, it was required to undertake an archaeological impact assessment including a programme of testing. The proposed renovation works are located within the zone of archaeological potential for the historic town of Roscrea.

A small site occupied by two derelict buildings, it was only possible to position two test trenches on the site. No archaeological features and/or remains were uncovered in the test trenches.  The testing revealed a gravel/shingle and stone deposit directly overlying the natural deposition.  It would appear the site had previously stripped to the naturally deposited soil with an import of gravel/shingle and stone deposited directly over the natural deposition.
