Archaeological monitoring was undertaken at Kentstown, Co. Meath on behalf of Eastwise Group. A desktop assessment was undertaken in June 2021 followed by two geophysical surveys (21R0180 and 21R0200), archaeological testing (21E0541) and a full-scale archaeological excavation (22E0604) which resulted in discovery of buried remains of a large ringfort-type settlement. Archaeological monitoring took place across the remaining, unexcavated green space during the course of the development. Works took place between April and November 2025.

Works first got underway at the eastern side of the site, with topsoil stripping, ditch clearing and foundation excavation. Works then moved towards the northern area which was previously buried beneath spoil heaps during the archaeological excavation. Works in the western section has been postponed indefinitely due to issues with services. This area has not yet been topsoil stripped and will require monitoring in the future.

No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified during the course of monitoring.

It is recommended that further monitoring takes place in the western field/section of the site when works in this area restart
