Archaeological monitoring of geotechnical site investigations along the route of a 30km proposed pipeline between Lisglennon in County Mayo and Lough Talt in County Sligo was undertaken between January and June 2025. Additional site investigations in the grounds of the 19th-century Belleek Manor (NIAH Reg. 31303017) were monitored over a period of three days in November 2025. The archaeological monitoring recorded no artefacts or features of archaeological significance. A stone culvert was identified on the edge of the Ballina- Killala road (ITM 523754 821991)) in the townland of Culleens. This culvert is recorded on the later editions of the historical Ordnance Survey six inch maps and is probably associated with the former Great Southern Railway Line that connected Ballina and Killala. The location of this feature should be considered in the proposed pipeline design and the feature recorded. Appropriate mitigation measures should be applied to ensure its preservation in situ or by record.
