2025:545 - Sheemore Hill (Kiltoghert), Keonbrook, Leitrim

Archaeological monitoring of ground disturbance associated with the development of a carpark was completed in December 2025.  The site is located on the north side of the L7402 road directly opposite the entrance to the informal start point of the route to the top of Sheemore  Hill.

The archaeological monitoring was concentrated on the excavation of a drainage pipeline and the cleaning out of an existing drainage channel.  Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered with natural silty clay below topsoil in all areas.  The levelling of topsoil heaps stored on the site was also monitored and the levelled topsoil subjected to metal detection.  Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered in any of the areas monitored. The development will not impact on any archaeological layers or features.
