Programmes of Archaeological Monitoring were undertaken with respect to a Single Residential Development at Kilteel Lower, Kilteel, Naas, Co. Kildare in 2024 and 2025 in compliance with Condition 5 of a Grant of Planning issued by Kildare County Council.

The western extent of the overall subject site/planning boundary is located within the extent of an RMP Zone and SMR ZoN established for a Barrow – ring-barrow (KD020-005). A temporary buffer barrier was established on the western side of an existing agricultural access track to ensure that no possible damage might be caused to the monument or immediate environs.

All topsoil striping/general ground reduction works onto the surface of the underlying subsoil, together with shallow excavations of the subsoil, required of the development (area of house, driveway and wastewater treatment system) was monitored.

No subsurface features of archaeological interest/potential were uncovered and no artefacts of archaeological/historical interest were recovered during the excavations of by subsequent ‘raking over’ of the topsoil spoil, where possible.
