Archaeological monitoring was undertaken of the first phase of groundworks associated with the construction of underground transmission gas pipelines running from the townland of Milltown to the townland of Clonburris Great, Co. Dublin.
The development is located within the Grange Castle Business Park and surrounding area in the western city limits of Dublin. The road carrying this route extends through a predominantly urban landscape dominated by industrial/commercial premises in the west, and by residential areas in the east. The route of the Phase 1 Gas to Greener Ideas gas pipeline will mainly travel along existing roads and along verges that have already being disturbed by the laying of services in urban areas.
Groundworks comprising topsoil stripping were archaeologically monitored at four locations along the route.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during archaeological monitoring.
