A programme of archaeological test trenching was carried out on a proposed development site at Drumnahoagh, Letterkenny, County Donegal on 4 April 2025. The trenches were excavated using a tracked 360° mechanical excavator fitted with a toothless ditching bucket. The excavated spoil from the trenches was spread out alongside the trench and systematically inspected to assist with artefact retrieval. This included a metal detection survey using a Minelab Equinox 600 discriminating metal detector. Nothing archaeological was identified. The test trenching programme proved that the site had been stripped of topsoil previously and filled with hardcore over 1m in depth.
