Three trenches were excavated within the site of an 18th/19th-century house which is located within the townland of Fahee North, Co. Clare. It comprises a single-roomed stone house which measures 4m long by 3.3m wide. It abuts a townland boundary wall between Fahee North and Termon.
Trench 1 was located within the centre and the entrance area of the house. A slab surface was found outside the house entrance while the natural bedrock was found within the interior. No hearth or features were found inside the house.
Trenches 2 and 3 were located outside the southern exterior of the house to determine if there is another structure at the rear of the site. Trench 2 uncovered the remains of a possible enclosure wall. The natural bedrock was found within Trench 2 and 3.
A number of late 19th– to early 20th-century artefacts were uncovered consisting of glass, pottery and metals finds.
The excavation was run with the involvement of the local community and local volunteers from Burrenbeo Trust Conservation Volunteers (BCVs).
