A programme of archaeological monitoring and metal detection was undertaken during groundworks associated with the Enniscorthy Water Supply Scheme at Templeshannon and Clonhasten, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
Archaeological monitoring and metal detection of the ground works was carried out intermittently between April and September 2024. No archaeological features or artefacts were recorded during topsoil stripping at Clonhaston pump station. The pipeline excavations running along the roadways revealed modern road surfaces laid directly over natural subsoils or bedrock. Works at the existing Vinegar Hill Water Treatment Plant were modest and nothing of archaeological significance was recorded.
