Two archaeological test trenches were mechanically excavated under direct archaeological supervision.
No archaeology, whether deposits, structures or artefacts, was encountered. The exposed subsoil was sterile in composition, apart from a mechanically excavated drain and two drainage sumps. Furthermore, there is the possibility that the original topsoil was entirely removed at the time of creating the drainage sumps and new, garden soil was imported onto the site, in an attempt to reclaim the site from waterlogging as a result of surface water ingress.
