The archaeological monitoring was undertaken over the course of one day, on 16 December 2024. The topsoil strip was undertaken by a 360˚ mechanical excavator under archaeological supervision. The area of the access lane was reduced in ground level by about 0.4m in depth to the formation level and excavated through a 0.2m thick layer of dark greyish brown garden loam and a 0.2m thick underlying layer of mid brown gravelly clayey silt mixed with small fragments of modern white ceramic, coal and redbrick. The natural subsoil consisted of a light brownish orange gritty silty clay. Extensive root activity was noted throughout the excavated area. No archaeological features, finds or deposits were identified.Archaeological monitoring was undertaken on 16 December 2024. The topsoil strip was undertaken by a 360˚ mechanical excavator.
