Archaeological monitoring of the excavations at Piggott’s Street was carried out over 2 days. This involved of the mechanical excavation of fill material and natural sandy clays. The stone threshold of an earlier building was recorded at a depth of 0.5m in the north of the site and may be the building marked on the historic OSi last edition 6-inch map. The stratigraphy encountered throughout the rest of the site was comprised of fill (depth 0.9-1m) overlying the natural sandy clay. No features and/or finds of archaeological significance were encountered during the course of the monitoring of the site excavations.
