Archaeological monitoring of ground disturbance was undertaken here between April and August 2024. Archaeological monitoring of ground reduction for foundation installation and service re-routing was carried out during a number of site visits.
Monitoring of ground reduction across the site identified extensive sub-surface disturbance from the installation of previous services. A consistent stratigraphy was encountered throughout which consisted of a topsoil layer of dark brown sandy clay of maximum depth 0.3m. This overlay a light brown compact and sterile boulder clay. Where this material was excavated for service runs and an attenuation tank, it was found to be 1.5m deep and overlying a grey limestone bedrock.
No archaeological material was identified over the course of the monitoring works.
