An Archaeological Impact Assessment was carried out of a site for the proposed importation of clean and inert soil and stone for the raising of an agricultural field and the construction of a new entrance and temporary haul road to lands at Glashaboy South, Carrignavar, Co. Cork. The assessment of the proposed development area was based on a desk study, which was supported by a geophysical survey and archaeological test excavation undertaken across the proposed development site. The geophysical survey of the proposed area did not identify any responses or trends of potential archaeological interest, and all features identified were interpreted as geological or modern in origin. This survey was followed by licenced archaeological test excavation.

Fourteen test trenches were opened across the two fields, and nothing of archaeological interest was identified, confirming the geophysical survey results.
Given the results of the desk-based assessment, geophysical survey and archaeological test excavation, which did not reveal any features, soils or archaeological potential within the subject lands, it is recommended that no further archaeological investigations are considered necessary at the site.
