A total of 83 trial pits were excavated over the bogs of Drumman, Derryarkin and Ballybeg. The majority of the Trial Pits revealed a stratigraphy consisting of varying depths of peat overlying natural layers. No finds of archaeological significance were encountered during the course of the monitoring of the excavations.
In Trial Pit 206, a linear feature (3.1m L, 0.7m W, 0.4m depth) was identified in the townland of Derrygreenagh. Examination of the historic OSi mapping indicates settlement in this area dating to the 19th century. In Trial Pit 307 and 307a two planks that appear to have been worked were recorded. One wooden plank was revealed in Trial Pit C05, in an area comprised of made-up ground and the plank did not appear to be in situ. This Trial Pit was located along the townland boundary between Togher and Coole.
