An archaeological monitoring programme was carried out for the proposed development of a new barn at Skara Stud, Oldtown Road, Kilcarn, Navan, Co. Meath from 8 to 10 November 2023. All topsoil was stripped from the site down to natural subsoil. A total of three features of archaeological potential were identified on the site. All three features were determined to be pits filled with burnt material and two had an associated burnt spread. These features were in close proximity to each other at the lowest point within a group of fields. All features were preserved in situ and any construction elements that were to impact upon the features were relocated slightly. The foundations were fully excavated and had no archaeological impact.
