Archaeological testing was carried out prior to a planning proposal for a development consisting of 30 residential units and all ancillary works. The northern end of the site falls within the Zone of Notification of Ringfort MA063-003.
A total of five trenches were excavated, covering a total of 510m. All trenches, apart from Trench 1 which had evidence for modern backfilling, were completely undisturbed and had no evidence of any previous land disturbance. There was a notable absence of any charcoal flecks, pottery sherds (apart from 1 piece of very modern pottery) plastic etc. in the topsoil. There was no evidence in the test trenches of any activity connected to ringfort MA063-003.
