A programme of archaeological test trenching was undertaken at Batter Lane, Belinstown, Swords, Co. Dublin to inform a planning application. Testing was carried out over the course of two days from 13 April 2023 using a mechanical excavator fitted with a flat grading bucket. The investigation revealed one area of archaeological significance which comprised two post-holes, a possible kiln and a sub-circular pit of indeterminate function.
Five linear features were also identified within the test trenches and are considered to be non-archaeological in nature, as they relate to the historic sub-division of the current field system.
Pre-development mitigation was recomended pending a planning decision.
