Excavation at Ballinrea 1, as part of the M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy Project,
Co. Cork, revealed a post-medieval to early modern field boundary ditch and an associated cultivation furrow, along with currently undated pits as well as several naturally occurring features such as root holes and tree holes.

A total of 14 artefacts/potential artefacts including a flint flake, a corroded iron object, post-medieval pottery and a ceramic marble/bottle stop were recovered from topsoil during the excavation. Archaeological materials in the form of charred plant remains (cereal grain and charcoal) were also recovered.
