A programme of archaeological testing comprised of the excavation of over 7,900 linear meters of trenches within the footprint of a proposed quarry development to assess the potential for subsurface archaeological remains. The trench layout was arranged to target identified geological anomalies. There were eight areas in total located in agricultural fields: Areas 1-8.

A ring-ditch, a kiln, two areas containing spreads of burnt mound material and a total of 24 possible pits/post-holes and two small deposits, some isolated, some occurring in small clusters across the areas were uncovered. One of these pits contained a possible broken rubbing stone on its surface.
