The works involve the construction of a driveway, house, garage, septic tank and a percolation area. The existing entrance will be retained but will be widened so as to improve the view out on the road. The driveway will then swing east for 5m before heading back north 65m. This portion of the driveway will be the reutilised farm passage. This will not be excavated, only re-sheeted with appropriate material. At the end of the driveway the new house site will be located. The house will be a minimum of 30m from the outer extents of the ecclesiastical enclosure.
The topsoil (C.1) was a dry light brown loose clay with a moderate density of stone inclusions. The depth of topsoil varied across the site but was on average c.0.3m. The subsoil (C.2) was a light red loose clay with a high density of stone inclusions. There was no variation in either topsoil or subsoil across the site.
No archaeological features or deposits were noted in the exposed subsoil.
