Archaeological monitoring was recommended as a condition of planning for the Boherbue WWTP upgrade project. A full archaeological presence was maintained during the removal of topsoil to the east of the existing tanks and administration building but it became clear from an early stage that the entire area had been previously disturbed during the construction of the original plant. No features or finds of archaeological significance were found in any of the areas that were stripped of topsoil.
