Archaeological monitoring was carried out for an extension to a residential home located at Mountgarrett, New Ross, County Wexford. The development is located 45m to the north of Mountgarrett Castle (WX029-009), a 15th-century tower-house, now in ruins. The current building consists of a bungalow and garage built in the late 1980s or 1990s. The structures were built on a raised platform to compensate for the natural slope of the site. This platform is up to 2m in height to the side and rear of the house. The proposed extension area is small, measuring approx. 8m x 6m, and will be added to the north gable end of the house. Archaeological monitoring was carried out during November, 2022. No features or finds of archaeological significance were found.
