2022:751 - SLIGO: Buenos Ayres Drive ( L3505), Shore road (L3504), Sligo

Archaeological monitoring took place of exploratory groundworks and main work trenching associated with Uisce Éireann’s (UÉs) Water Network Programme undertaken at Strandhill, Co. Sligo. The monitoring followed a cultural heritage screening assessment which found that the proposed main pipeline would impact the Zone of Notification (ZoN) of a ringfort (SL014-068). Monitoring was also proposed for ancillary works (connection service transfers) that may impact the ZoNs of two other Recorded Monuments: a ringfort (SL013-034001) and a souterrain (SL013-034002); as well as the constraints area of settlement hearth (SL013-109). As a precaution, works were monitored in the vicinity of a Cultural Heritage (CH) site (cottage, NIAH Reg. No. 32401409).

The monitoring was carried out on 3 February, 27–28 June, 19 September and 10–11 October 2022. No potential archaeological finds, features, deposits or human remains were noted during monitoring.
