It is proposed to construct a single residence on a site, the eastern extent of which is located outside the westernmost extent of a Zone of Archaeological Potential established for a church and graveyard site (SMR: OF028-003)
A programme of intrusive archaeological testing, comprising the machine excavation of nine trenches, was undertaken within the footprint of the proposed development/construction areas. Such trenches indicated that, in general, the site has been subject to a previous programme of topsoil stripping, with evidence of additional ground disturbance and filling in the central area following which the topsoil was reinstated.
No subsurface features of archaeological interest or potential were uncovered and no artefacts of archaeological or historical interest were recovered in any of the excavated trenches.
