A programme of Archaeological Monitoring took place of the foundation pit/trench associated with the erection of a replacement electricity supply pole at Clonguiffin, Co. Meath.
The subject works were located within a Zone of Archaeological Notification established with respect to a Field System (SMR: ME047-012) and a House (SMR: ME047-012001).
Notification of the works was submitted to the National Monuments Service who recommended that all ground disturbance associated with the works be monitored by an archaeologist and under licence from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The topsoil lay directly upon the subsoil, comprising dry, moderately stiff, light brown gravelly/sandy clay with moderate medium cobbles dispersed randomly throughout.
