The client had plans for the construction of a new dwelling house, proprietary treatment unit and percolation area in a field immediately south of the site of a probable cashel (MA105-015—-) now occupied by a modern house and garden. Within the site area of the cashel is a cross-inscribed pillar (MA105-013—-) which, I am reliably informed, is not its original setting, but its original location is unknown. Seven trenches, all 2m wide, were excavated and there was nothing to suggest the cashel extended into this field. There was no trace of archaeology from the testing. Site name on OS maps Caherabilla suggests a sacred tree at this fort but no local knowledge is available today.
