Monitoring of excavation of a basement took place at Drury Street, Dublin 2 from March to June 2022. The basement excavation lay beneath a late Victorian structure covering an area of c.40sq.m and dug to an average depth of 3.5m below present ground level. Bulk excavation for a basement as well as groundworks to facilitate underpinning works were archaeologically monitored.

Two successive floor surfaces, drainage features and disturbed foundations for a party wall were identified and dated to the late 19th or early 20th century. A stone-built well was also identified, incorporated into the north-east corner of the building. This feature was retained in situ.
