Monitoring of topsoil removal was a condition of planning for the construction of a single dwelling, driveway and associated services. This was necessary due to the development’s close proximity to a ringfort and souterrain in the adjacent field (CO070-025001&2). The establishment of a fenced buffer zone was also required before any work began. Situated on the shoulder of a south-facing ridge, the site overlooked the Sullane River Valley. A general stratigraphy of between 0.2m and 0.35m of a light brown topsoil overlay mixed yellow/grey boulder clay containing gravels and larger stones. No archaeology was found during monitoring.
