Following a detailed desk-based archaeological assessment, archaeological monitoring was carried out during construction of a tourist development within the grounds of the late 18th-/early 19th-century Drumhierny Lodge, a protected structure, near Leitrim.

The development consisted of the construction of chalets, the conversion of the former coach house into a reception building, laying of footpaths and car parks and various service connections. Several Recorded Monuments are to be found in the heavily wooded estate grounds, including a number of enclosures that may represent ringforts, as well as several tree rings that are likely to have been created as part of early 19th-century landscaping. The development was designed to avoid impact on the monuments and other landscape features. Archaeological monitoring during the minimal-impact groundworks did not identify any archaeological features, deposits or artefacts.
