Monitoring of topsoil removal was a requirement for an extension to an existing farmyard complex due to the presence of an enclosure and burial ground to the north-east and a ringfort to the south-east. The site consisted of an area 20m by 10m and was situated on the edge of a field of improved pasture overlooking the Bandon River valley to the west. A maximum depth of 0.2m of a mid-brown, stony topsoil overlay grey, gravelly subsoil and bedrock.
