Excavation was undertaken in advance of a propsoed development in Downestown townland, Duleek, Co. Meath.

The excavation comprised three burnt mounds/fulachtaí fia, two of which had been identified during an earlier programme of test trenching carried out under a separate contract under licecne 19E0411 (2019:433).

The first burnt mound measured 11m north–south by 8m in width and had an approximate depth of 0.4m. A wood-lined trough and three pits were identified beneath the mound.

The second burnt mound measured measured 15m north–south by 7m in width and had a maximum depth of 0.19m. Two troughs and a pit were identified beneath the burnt mound.

The third burnt mound measured 16m north–south by 14.5m and had a maximum depth of 0.45m. Two wood-lined troughs, two sub-circular pits, one of which was wood lined and three possible post-holes were identified beneath the mound.
