Archaeological monitoring at Kilmanman Church (LA002-002001) took place in advance of conservation works during the summer of 2019. The work involved the careful removal of collapsed masonry from the southern long wall and southwest and southeast gables, and rebuilding of this masonry with masonry from the site and locally sourced materials. Two decorated stone fragments were recovered from the collapsed masonry. One is a fragment of the upper stone from a rotary quernstone. The other is a fragment of a decorated window mullion.

During the work some localised ground disturbance took place, to allow for the construction of lime mortar foundation pads at the proposed rebuild locations. Some disarticulated human remains were recovered from the foundation areas.

Specialist analysis of the artefacts from the conservation works at Kilmanman Church is ongoing, and will allow for the completion of a Final Report in 2020.
