Testing was undertaken in October 2019 in response to a request for further information with regard to a planning application to construct two dwelling houses at a proposed development site that straddles the townlands of Curraghleha East and West, Tralee, Co. Kerry. A series of six north-east/south-west orientated test trenches (T1-T6) were excavated across the western limits of the site. The test trenches extended for c.844m, and were opened using a back-acting 13-ton mechanical excavator with a 2m wide flat grading bucket. Topsoil varied from 0.25–0.4m in depth. Subsoil consisted of yellow to greyish yellow sandy clay. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the trenches.
