Eight test trenches were mechanically excavated on the footprint of a proposed solar farm development. Topsoil stripping was carried out by a mechanical excavator operating with a c.2m wide, toothless grading bucket.
There were no archaeological features or artefacts noted in any of the test trenches. Evidence for disturbance due to land improvement works, root action and modern disturbance was noted across much of the areas tested and these appear to account for the anomalies identified during geophysical survey.
