An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the second phase construction of a holiday park on lands at Clare Park, Ballycastle, Co. Antrim. ANT 004:067, located within the proposed development site, is identified in the SMR records as a modern graveyard. The monument was retained within the site without apparent damage.
Prior to this evaluation, development works had already commenced, primarily in the western half, but 2 areas had not yet been developed. Monitoring of topsoil removal was therefore conducted using a back-acting machine fitted with a toothless bucket to the upper levels of naturally occuring subsoil.
No archaeological deposits were identified during the course of the evaluation.
