Stage (i) test excavations were carried out on the proposed realignment of the N52 between Gibstown and Stephenstown Bridge on behalf of Louth County Council. A total of 31 trenches, amounting to 2,110 linear metres, were excavated along the scheme (chainage 200–1625). All trenches were excavated to the level of subsoil. No archaeological finds or features were recorded.
