2009:615 - KILLALA: Quay Road, Mayo

The development is located within Killala village. It will involve the restoration of the existing Quay Cottages: refurbishment and rethatching of a tearoom, rebuilding three single-storey thatched street-front cottages, a two-storey extension to the existing Quay Cottages to include expansion of the existing biodynamic clinic and training centre, new spa, new reception and café; one new apartment within the existing Quay Cottages, five two-storey dwelling units each with two apartments; one two-storey dwelling-house and all necessary site-development works and landscaping. The area measures 0.412ha.

The excavation of four test-trenches located throughout the proposed development area failed to reveal any archaeological features or artefacts. In total 207m² of test-trenches were excavated within the site, giving a 5% sample of the development area.
