Pre-development testing was carried out at the proposed site of a dwelling house at Monasterboice, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The proposed development is located at the edge of the area of conservation around the Early Christian monastic settlement (LH021–062). Four test-trenches were mechanically excavated revealing no artefacts or features of archaeological significance. The stratigraphy encountered revealed the sod and topsoil coming down onto the natural yellow/grey marl clay. In the south of the proposed site modern drains were revealed cutting into the subsoil and natural layers.
