Testing was undertaken in October 2008 in compliance with a request for further information issued by the planning authority with respect to a proposed residential development. The site is located c. 650m to the west of the town centre and c. 400m outside the western limit of the established zone of archaeological potential. A total of 42 trenches were excavated within the boundaries of the proposed development area. No subsurface features were uncovered. A total of 55 sherds of pottery were recovered from the topsoil, the majority of which are of medieval date.
