Testing took place at the site of the Aisling Hotel near Collins Barracks as a condition of planning following demolition of the southern block of the old building. Four trenches were mechanically excavated. The site was found to have been thoroughly disturbed by modern services and basements associated with the hotel. A brick boundary wall was found in the east of the site which was probably Victorian or later in date. The natural stratigraphy of the site was characterised by gravel layers and nothing of archaeological significance was found.
