A soil chemical characterisation survey was undertaken over an area of about 1km2 around the site of Navan Fort. Soil samples were taken every 50m and geochemical testing in a field laboratory revealed numerous areas of significantly elevated soil phosphate that are likely to represent archaeological sites from various eras.
