Test-trenching ahead of proposed further works at the Matthewstown pig unit, Fenor, Co. Waterford, found remains of a fulacht fiadh. Burnt sandstone fragments overlay a bleached buried soil, in an oval of c. 11m by 15m. The fulacht would have been close to a loch or bog, which has been adapted in recent years as a wetland filtering plant for the pig unit.

An alternative site for the proposed new building was tested, and nothing of archaeological interest was found.
