This site was excavated as part of the pre-construction archaeological mitigation of the N25 Waterford bypass, alternative route. A group of seven circular pits, each less than 1.5m in diameter with the deepest pit 0.48m in depth, and one post-hole were located along the edge of the road-take and probably represent outlying features belonging to a wider settlement to the north. A small sample of animal bone and iron slag was recovered. Post-excavation is ongoing and radiocarbon dates were not available at the time of submission. An early medieval date is expected.
