Archaeological investigations were carried out in January 2007 in advance of the proposed residential development of Clonabay, Washing Bay Road, Annagher, with associated groundworks and services. Groundworks had already begun, therefore monitoring involved the excavation of six trenches located along the lines of proposed services, drainage and the diversion of a stream.
All trenches were stripped using a back-acting mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket and were excavated to clean, undisturbed subsoil. No archaeological deposits were identified during the monitoring of these areas.
