Trial-trenching was carried out in April 2007 on the line of the upgraded A4 between 25811 35483 and 25828 38487. Further excavation was carried out in three areas where features of potential archaeological interest had been identified, but all of these proved to relate to 19th/20th-century field boundaries and farm buildings.
